We are here (in Japan) and we are safe!
It all started with Mio staying up all night and watching the sunrise on Wednesday... then a great dinner to wish everyone a safe trip...then the Vida Latina troupe sleep-over at the studio Wednesday night, ready for Thursday's flight. Piling into a 12 seat mini bus (Lenny at the helm) we arrived at the Coolangatta airport... we all checked in... all passed security... although of course Lenny was selected to be tested for explosives, but all good after a quick pat-down from the nice security man.
On board, we were well behaved and enjoyed ourselves as best we could for the 9 hour flight... touching down in Osaka, Mio organised rail passes and we headed to our first destination: Kyoto, Japan. Walking the beautiful (very tidy) back streets of Kyoto, we checked into our hotel... then all feeling the need we went to the Convenience store just across the road... everyone found the strangest of things to buy... Ronan a small peppered sausage, Lenny got his sugar bread, Mio and her aloe-vera yogurt.
We are happy to be getting a little sleep in to then hit the town again tomorrow. Then we'll be getting ready for our first Latin Cabaret performance in Kyoto on Friday night.
QUOTES FOR TODAY
"Kanpai" (translation = 'cheers!') pronounced "KAM-PAI" (if you're Annette and Simone - thick Aussie accents) has been the answer to any and everything during the trip so far (at this rate we'll have 14 words we can speak, one word for each day we're here!)
"Human Sushi Train" - this was Chris and Shankkar's bright idea/invention that instead of the sushi moving around, it should be the humans which ride the tiny train... think about it, makes you laugh doesn't it?!
Missing home just a little bit, Annette sings the chorus to 'One Tonne Rodeo" slightly adapting the words..."One tonne of mayo", it's just as catchy!
And of course, here are some snaps!
